Color-coded labels for grouping contacts, lists, and templates.

Tags are flexible labels — pick a name, pick a color, and apply them anywhere they help you find or group things later. They are account-wide, so the same tag can be applied across lists.

Common uses

  • Customer tier (e.g. "VIP", "Trial").
  • Source (e.g. "Webinar", "Trade show").
  • Template categories (e.g. "Holiday", "Promo").

Tags vs. topics

Tags are internal — you set them. Topics are subscriber-facing preferences they choose themselves. Use tags for segmenting; use topics when subscribers should opt in.

What's the difference between a tag and a topic?

Tags are internal labels you assign — the contact does not see them. Topics are subscription preferences the contact themselves opts into via a form, so they carry implicit consent.

Can I tag many contacts at once?

Yes — select contacts in the overview and use the bulk-action menu to apply or remove a tag. The same flow works for unattaching tags.

Can I segment on a tag?

Yes — "has tag = X" is a valid segment rule. Combine it with other rules to build precise audiences like "tag = customer AND opened last campaign".
